Donald E. “Don” Davis, 88, of Oblong, IL passed away at 9:05 P.M. ET on Friday December 30, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN.
VISITATION: 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday January 3, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Oblong, IL.
SERVICE: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday January 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery.

Don was born on December 29, 1928 in Crawford County, IL to Millard Nolen Davis and Dorothy Wanda (Hill) Davis. On August 3, 1956 he married Lois Ann Kline who survives.
Don worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Crawford County Highway Department for 37 years and also for the Oblong Township. He was also Owner/Operator of Davis Sudsy Dudsy Laundromat in Oblong, IL. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and attended the First Christian Church of Oblong. Don was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219, where he previously served as commander; Crawford County V.F.W. Post 4549; Oblong Ruritan Club and the Oblong Community Service Club.
Don is survived by his wife Lois Ann Davis of Oblong, IL; three sons and daughters-in-law Kip D. and Karen Davis, Donald Kevin and Lori Davis, and Kelly A. and Crystal Davis all of Oblong, IL. Eight grandchildren Adam and Lori Davis of Oblong, Ryley Davis of Mt. Carmel, IL, Tucker and Hilary Davis of Princeton, IN, DJ and Bethany Davis of Oblong, Nicole and Josh Huffman of Martinsville, IL, Wayne Davis of Oblong, Sheena Davis and Fiancé Chris Calip of Robinson, IL and Makayla Davis of Oblong; Ten Great grandchildren with two due in 2017. Brother and sister-in-law Gary and Patty Davis of Robinson, IL; five sisters and brothers-in-law Velma Simpson of Robinson, IL, Marlene Corley of Atwood, IL, Charlene and Gene Waggoner of Plainfield, IN, Betty and Floyd Stout of Hutsonville, IL and Barbara Nidey of Robinson, IL. Don is also survived by sister-in-law Linda and Rick Seamon of Oblong, along with several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jerry Davis and three brothers-in-law Kenneth Simpson, Paul Howard and Jack Nidey and a nephew Ronnie Howard.
